Roblox Unveils Text-to-Worlds AI Tool for Game Creators

Roblox is developing an open-source AI tool that will enable game developers to create 3D environments and objects using just text prompts. This innovative feature, announced at the 10th annual Roblox Developer Conference (RDC 2024) in San Jose, California, aims to simplify the process of designing game worlds on the platform, making it more accessible to creators with limited experience in 3D design.

Roblox has yet to reveal a launch date for its upcoming 3D creation tool, which is powered by a cutting-edge “3D foundational model”. A demo video showcases the tool’s capabilities, as users can type simple commands – such as “create a race track” and “make the scenery a desert” – and the AI generates a corresponding 3D environment in real-time.
